On the 15th April, 1874 the studio of the photographer Nadar, located in Paris at 'boulevard des Capucines, 35, opened its doors to an exhibition of one hundred and sixty five works of art - paintings, drawings, watercolours, pastels - realised by artists belonging to the 'Societè anonyme des artistes, peintres, sculpteurs, graveurs', founded the year before. Among the exhibitors there were Astruc, Bracquemond, Boudin, Cezanne, Degas, Guillman, Monet, Morisot, de Nittis, Pissaro, Renoir, Sisley.

The purpose of this site is to offer a historical testimony- the most accurate possible- of this memorable event.
